I’m not so sure what’s special about these photos on their own. What I am sure about is that, together, they capture the essence of a late West Virginia summer. Something that starts with plucking the embellishments for dinner from the garden. That ends with the sky on fire.
But not until after its softly given you time at the end of your day–something we take for granted in the depths of the winter approaching. It has lightly lit the sky–just enough to lock the shed doors, tuck away the tools, check around the building, and to let you run your bare feet through the growing grass. If you’re lucky, a walk around the entire yard, traipsing off past the hillside, even with the pricklier grass, will extend what you’ve been looking for all day.
Your time.
